• firefox 12 turn off Inspect Element (Q)

  Go the new FF12 and I hit the "Inspect Element (Q)", i'm use to hitting "Inspect" and getting FireBug, now i get the FF inspection tool. It looks nice, but how do i turn it off? Not disable it, but stop inspecting the current page? I have to close the tab, when working on a large web application, have to sign back in and re-setup everything i was testing to get back to a normal view. Big waste of time.

And tried to backup the partition where win xp and fedora is installed but I get this error. I'm backing it up on another virtual disk created through virtual box. What might be the cause of this error, and how to solve it.

• Ubuntu not installed-Please Remove installation media and close tray and press enter

  I have downloaded Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 32 bit, burned it on DVD and tried to install it on my PC. My PC is running in Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit mounted on the C: drive. Now I want install Ubuntu along with my Windows 7. When I boot Ubuntu through the CD, It boots and the Ubuntu install windows opens It offers "Try Ubuntu" and "Install Ubuntu". I choose "Install Ubuntu" Then I go on to install Ubuntu with Windows(First Option)-install It shows some blank screen with some lines, and says "Please Remove installation media and close tray and press enter" Then the PC restarts and runs Windows 7 same as before normally. But Ubuntu is not installed. How to solve this problem and install Ubuntu on my PC properly? Note: I am an Android Developer. So I need to install Ubuntu for my Android Development purpose.

• Pxe boot ubuntu server - corrupt packages

  I have set up a cobbler pxe boot server and managed to get centos5.8 to fully automatically install. Unfortunately with Ubuntu 12.04-server-i386, it stops mid-way through with a message stating that packages are corrupt. I tried following this tip to unzip the Packages.gz file which results in an empty Packages file with nothing in it. Other people suggested doing a touch command which essentially does the exact same thing, an empty Packages file. That results in me getting a different message that states: Couldn't retrieve dists/precise/restricted/binary-i386/Packages. This may be due to a network..... Does anyone know how to work around this issue? Hitting continue before having made the tip/workaround resulted in ubuntu installing fine, but I need to be able to provide no manual input. • Only One GPU Detected in the Nvidia Quadra NVS 450

  I just built myself an new workstation and now only 2 of 3 monitors are working. I built the nvidia driver by downloading it and installing with ./Nvidia... Before when I ran nvidia-settings I saw two GPUs listed but now I only see one. • Updates broke my themes/shell [Ubuntu 12.04 running Gnome 3 ]

  I am running gnome-session 3.4.2.1. After the latest updates (listed below) my theme regressed to what looks like tango - not sure. Am unable to change it using Gnome-tweak tool or the display settings. I am also unable to change the wallpaper. Here's what it looks like: Synaptic: Chromium and this is the wallpaper page even though I have selected the wallpaper, it actually does not change. This same problem occurred on my personal computer, and one other computer I have, all running the same software/config. The interesting thing is that while Gnome 3 and Unity are affected, Cinnamon is not. What I've done so far: purged and re-installed both gnome 3 and Unity- no change noted. So, how do I fix this? • Munin - apache_watch_ plugin, does not show any data in the graphs that shows activity for per vhosts

  I am using Munin for monitoring my server. I installed the apache_watch_ plugin so that i could see apache related activity. The graphs for apache_accesses, apache_processes and apache_volume work fine. But the graphs for Apache Documents served, Apache Input/output (bytes), Apache Requests don't show any activity in the graph. The important thing is that these graphs that don't show anything are supposed to show the data divided per vhosts. I am on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS (Lucid Lynx) and the munin version is 1.4.4. One thing that I think may be the cause for issue is that I have a separate config file for every vhost, which are included in the main config. But I can't really figure out any solution. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  I need flash to watch YT videos. YT said "You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video." with a link to download flash. I'm running 10.04 so I see possible choices for myself: 1) a .deb file for Ubuntu 8.04+ or APT (whats this??) for Ubuntu 9.04. I downloaded the deb file and when I opened it in the installer it said that I have the wrong architecture. Anyone have an idea about how to work around this?

  I'm trying to set up sftp-server but the client is getting an error, Connection closed by server with exitcode 1 /var/log/auth.log (below) doesn't help much, how can I find out what the error is? I'm running Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS sshd[27236]: Accepted password for theuser from (my ip) port 13547 ssh2 sshd[27236]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for user theuser by (uid=0) sshd[27300]: subsystem request for sftp sshd[27236]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed for user theuser Update: I've been prodding this for a while now, I've got the sftp command on another server giving me a more useful error. Request for subsystem 'sftp' failed on channel 0 Couldn't read packet: Connection reset by peer Everything I've found on the net suggests this id a problem with sftp-server but when I remove the chroot from sshd config I can access the system. I assume this means sftp-server is accessible and set up correctly.

  I just built myself an new workstation and now only 2 of 3 monitors are working. I built the nvidia driver by downloading it and installing with ./Nvidia... • Slackware 12 - installed cairo but cannot be seen

  Hi. I wanted to install gtk+ 2.16.5, so i also installed glib, pango and cairo. All seemed to work well, except for cairo. At first I got an error while configuring: Requested 'cairo = 1.6' but version of cairo is 1.4.12 I installed the newest version of cairo without any problems, i rebooted the comp and when i started the configure again the same thing happened and it showed me the same error. I also can see this: Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables BASE_DEPENDENCIES_CFLAGS and BASE_DEPENDENCIES_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. • Package problems after upgrade

  I installed a new upgrade on ubuntu which seemed to fail near the end. Now I'm being told that an error has occurred and to please run apt-get to see what's wrong. After some further tries with that I eventually gave up. It seems there's a left over latex package(?) somewhere and I can't seem to get rid of or fix it. • Restarting rsyslog re-sends logs again

  I am running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on EC2. I have a bunch of application servers which are configured to forward their logs to a central server via rsyslog. Since putting in Nagios monitoring on the log files on the central server, I've been getting alerts indicating that particular application servers are failing to forward their logs to the centralized server. Logging into the machines and restarting the rsyslog service fixes the problem. However, rsyslog then re-transmits the logs again, resulting in duplicates on the collector. Why is it doing this?

• How do I require use of the 5 GHz band when connecting to a Wireless N access point?

  What is says in the topic: there's a Wireless N access point to which I'd like to connect using the 5 GHz band exclusively. How does one accomplish this? Using the directive band=a in the connection configuration file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections doesn't seem to affect anything (/var/log/syslog still shows attempts by wpa_supplicant to connect using the 2.4 GHz band), and running iwconfig wlan0 freq 5G per this question results in the following error: Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument. This link was helpful i was able to run it, and everything, however as soon has i restarted the computer i then go into my apps and run it again with rails s and this message occurs. The program 'rails' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install rails But work before, what should i do, do i need to set the path of somesort?? • Windows media player 12 not launching from custom program

  There is a program we use for testing that calls windows media player and plays a media file. The problem is that windows media player fails to load unless you open and close it before starting the program. After that the program will open it every time without a hitch but after a reboot it is lost and you must do it again. My question is what could be voilate setting could windows media player have that would be lost on a reboot? I have tried programs like Regshot to capture changes to the registry that might be delated on reboot. The code for the program is very straight forward simply calling windows media player with a parameter with the media to play. Using process montior I have determined that is is crashing shortly after the program executes it. I am at a lost on this problem as I can not find what if anything it is changing to run windows media player.

• My ubuntu server is losing connectivity, require assistance troubleshooting

  I have two server monitoring tools that check the uptime of my Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS server. Over the last month both of these tools have reported the following outages: Jan - 15mins: self recovery Jan - 5 mins: self recovery Feb - 15mins: I managed to be online when this happened and logged into my control panel to find that my server was shutdown. I manually restarted it only because I was online. I wonder if it would have restarted? I have contacted my VPS provider (webbynode) who could not see any any problems with their VPS infrastructure for the February outage. I have also checked the following log files to see if there are any anomalies that could be the cause of the outages; I am unable to see anything related to the server shutdown (Feb) in these logs: /var/log/auth.log /var/log/apache2/error.log /var/log/syslog /var/log/kern.log /var/log/boot /var/log/messages Could anyone suggest any other things I should look out for, such as additional system logs? I just added bootlogging through /etc/default/bootlogd
